    This letter covers key elements such as plot, pacing, character development, structure, voice, and emotional impact. You’ll come away with a clear understanding of what’s working well, where connections may be lost, and how to strengthen areas that feel unclear or underdeveloped.

    Integrating a wellness-based approach, I highlight your unique strengths as a writer so you know what to build upon as you revise. My feedback is always constructive and encouraging, because writers grow best when feedback inspires and motivates.

Developmental & Line Editing

Murder your darlings—without sacrificing yourself.

  • Editing is more than fixing sentences and shuffling paragraphs from here to there. My approach to developmental and line editing is wellness-based, meaning I consider your manuscript’s clarity and structure while also supporting your intent and creative well-being.

    The process begins with a conversation to understand your vision as an author, the areas where you feel confident, and the concerns or hesitations you may carry into the editing process. From there, I conduct a developmental review of your manuscript, focusing on the overarching structure, pacing, style, tone, and emotional resonance.

    After this first stage, we meet one-on-one to discuss my feedback, giving you space to reflect, ask questions, and consider next steps. In the second stage, I deepen the developmental edit while layering in line edits—addressing flow, clarity, consistency, and language at the sentence level. I use a scaffolding approach to deliver feedback in a way that feels supportive and manageable, so you can focus on revisions without feeling overwhelmed.

    The goal of this holistic process is to help you refine your manuscript with actionable steps, feel confident in your revisions, and emerge with powerful prose that’s polished and ready for the world.

Book coaching with Brainspotting is perfect for writers who feel stuck, want to explore the inner obstacles that may be holding them back, or are seeking to expand their creativity.

    Brainspotting works with the deep brain and body to identify, release and heal whatever may be getting in the way. By engaging both the conscious and unconscious mind, Brainspotting offers a powerful tool that writers can use to unlock creative freedom and enhance their flow states.
